Located on the coast of the island of Gozo, Xlendi offers the ideal place to enjoy Malta’s sizzling sunshine. On the west coast of Gozo, a couple of kilometres from Xlendi is the remarkable town of Dwerja.
The natural landscape and weathering by the sea has created some spectacular coastal attractions in Dwerja including the awesome Azure Window, Inland Sea and Crocodile Rock.
A couple of kilometres into the centre of Gozo from Xlendi and you'll find the biggest town of the island, Victoria (formally Rabat).
The main attraction in Victoria is the famous Citadel – built after an earthquake that destroyed the town's church.
There are plenty of shops to be found in Victoria, as well as a number of interesting museums, including The Natural Science Museum, The Folklore Museum and the Old Prisons.
Mgarr is Gozo's main harbour town and the principal entrance point to the island. It has a fantastic choice of restaurants and amazing views of the ocean – definitely worth a daytrip from Xlendi.
Take a free water-taxi from Mgarr to Marslaforn and walk to the beautiful Ramla Bay near Marsalforn.
Ramla Bay is on the opposite side of Gozo to Xlendi, (but that's only 6.4 kilometres) and it's definitely worth the journey.
Ramla Bay has just been awarded a Blue Flag for its cleanliness and management.
The sands are a gorgeous, golden-red colour and contrast spectacularly with the bright blue Mediterranean Sea.
There are cafés, shops and water sports available as well as historic Roman ruins behind (and underneath!) the beach.
The pretty bay in Xlendi is a beautiful setting for a romantic holiday away together.
Xlendi used to be a quaint fishing village and much of the traditional charm has remained in the resort.
Xlendi is in a great location for long walks together over the Sanap Cliffs in the east, or walk south to discover the 17th century watch tower, Torri ta’Xlendi.
There are plenty of water sports available in the gorgeous bay or explore the town to find cute cafes, restaurants and souvenirs.
You can swim in the picturesque bay in Xlendi; the warm Mediterranean waters are perfect for snorkeling and diving.
There are boat trips, canoes, pedalos and fishing trips available from the bay – a fantastic way to explore the beautiful Gozo coast together.
For a romantic day-trip together, journey to the north coast of the island to the spectacular beach at Ramla Bay. The golden red sands and clean, blue waters have been awarded a Blue Flag this year, and you can grab lunch at the little cafes by the beach, or take a picnic of local Maltese snacks.
The nightlife in Xlendi can be as tranquil or as lively as you want.
If you prefer relaxed evenings enjoying a glass of wine there are a number of bars and late-night restaurants with outdoor terraces near the bay.
If you want cocktails and dancing there’s an open-air nightclub by Xlendi called La Grotta. It’s an amazing location for a nightclub, built into the limestone caves with incredible views of the area.
The 3-star San Andrea Hotel has a lovely choice of rooms for couples in Xlendi.
Located by the steep cliffs that surround Xlendi Bay, the San Andrea Hotel has a pretty outside restaurant terrace that overlooks the water and an intimate and friendly atmosphere.
Right by the water, you’ll find the friendly restaurant Stone Crab.
The large menu has a tasty choice of pizzas, wonderful pasta and seafood dishes including clams, mussels, prawns, and of course their special crab-filled ravioli.
Located on the hills surrounding the village, this restaurant boasts incredible views of Xlendi Bay.
Enjoy incredible sunsets and views on the outdoor terrace whilst enjoying a fresh seafood dish or tasty pizza.
The best nightclub in Gozo is undoubtedly La Grotta, just 600 metres outside of Xlendi.
There are two dancefloors, one inside and one outside (to make the most of the warm Mediterranean evenings) and La Grotta often has international DJs or live music events.
Popular with locals and visitors, La Grotta also plays a big role in Malta Music Week every June.
Club Paradiso is a bar located above La Grotta.
It’s great for enjoying a drink before hitting the main nightclub.
