Striking Sitges Holidays

Situated just 35km from Barcelona, Sitges is often classified as the most charming town on the Catalan coast. Like its city slicker neighbour, this is a town where culture and art are given precedence above many other things. However, while Sitges holidays offer enough museums and architecture to make any history buff drool, there are also beautiful beaches the best of Spain’s coastlines and nightlife as good as any top European party destination. It also has a loud and proud gay scene to boot. Whatever you're looking for, Sitges has it all, and more.

Bohemian Abodes

The crowning glory of the resort is El Raco De La Calma, a leafy, peaceful thoroughfare that winds up from the beach up to the La Punta Church. La Calle Del Pecado is where the most happening nightlife is to be found. The area has so much going on that it’s earned the moniker of 'Sin Street'. There are not one, but three marinas in the town, each one offering beautiful vistas of the surrounding area, as well as providing inviting places to sit, eat and drink.

Eclectic Experiences

Sitges holidays are always packed full with a wide choice of things to do. Throughout July and August, the town becomes one big beach party, but you can be sure that there's something going on any other time of year, too. Having been a key location for the Moderism art movement, the town still places lots of emphasis on art in all its forms. At any time of the year you could drop in during a film festival, theatre festival, car rally or one of the biggest events of the year – gay pride.

There is a total of 17 different beaches to explore around the area, ranging from hidden coves to long stretches of sand dotted with sun loungers and bathers. With all of that coastline, the town also has some excellent seafood cuisine. Try xato – a sauce of blended nuts, garlic, breadcrumbs, vinegar and olive oil that drenches a traditional endive salad, sure to set your taste buds tingling with flavour.

Shopping addicts will love Sitges; Barcelona residents even come here to shop, and that’s really saying something! Some promising streets to scope out are Parellades, Cap De La Villa and Jesus Street – from high end stores to unique boutiques and plenty of charm, these are the places to come to splash your cash on holidays to Sitges.
